Location: Bogota, Colombia
Weather: Sunny
Mood:

What a beautiful Saturday. It's been all sunny and beautiful al day although it's rained in the afternoon the last couple of days, and fortunately not yet today. I had planned to spend most of my morning at the pool, just sunbathing and reading my book, but things don't always work out like you plan them, do they? What really happened is that I had to come back to the office to finishe some work before I can take the rest of the weekend of, but dad had to have a one-to-one with his secretary about something so I went and had a mani pedi while I waited. Btw, I got a frenchie 'cos I want to totally play the part when I drive my beautiful new car for the first time. Anyway, I'm done now and I'm heading back home to have lunch. Then in the afternoon (oh God I can't wait) I'm off shopping with mum and one of hey best gay friends (gay as in extreeeeeemly happy, not as in queer) 'cos I have to buy wrapping paper for dad's gifts (for father's day tomorrow) and put together a nice menu 'cos I'm cooking tomorrow - although what I think I'll do is just try and re-do my bf's gorgeous mustard and artichoke sauce with pasta, although it's my first time on my own so I might intoxicate my parent's, but hey, it's the thought that counts, right? Anyway, I'm in my laid back summer Saturday outfit with my striped shorts and a plain white slouch tee. Obviously my Coach swingpack is my number 1 accesory although I'm wearing the cutest sandals that my mum bought for me a couple of months ago all adorned with colorful rocks on the strap. Just kind of a laid back, relaxed yet chic look for a laid back gal like me. Oh God is that the time? No wonder I'm starved! I better call me dad so he can pick me up... No way I'm getting in a grubby cab in this heat! -Rx.

June 17, 2011

Location: Santa Marta, Colombia, sitting by the window on the 8th floor of the tallest blue building in the whole city, looking out into space (or the sea, whatever) and wondering what would happen if I free-fell from here into the sea... (not in a suicidal way, just in a movie, super diver way...)
Weather: Sunny and hot I expect, but in here it's cool and nice
Mood: totally distracted from reality............................................

The sea is blue. The sea should be blue. Not here though. I was just thinking, I have such a wide, wonderful view of the sea from where I’m sitting, it should be blue, not... grey. It's an icky oily blue, grey color and I can see ugly rooftops and a few cars and dogs and people, but I should be seeing the bright blue sea, like in Aruba, and white sandy beaches and beautiful people with umbrella cocktails. Anyway, I'm not. I'm in a really weird mood today, almost like I don’t belong. I feel uncomfortable with myself in a weird, out of my body way. I don't know what's wrong really. Everything in my life is fine, I should be over the roof that I get my new car on Tuesday, I'll be home Sunday night, I'm doing great at uni... and somehow I just feel weird. SO weird in fact that without thinking I pulled on a pair of black shorts, black tank top and sandals. In the office it's a bit chilly so I'm wearing my dad's brand new company shirt which was delivered today and is obviously too big on me (it goes down past my knees.) You know, I love that my dad is so big next to me. If anyone ever made a movie about me, (you never know, they might - how was Gabrielle Bonheur to know 38 years after her death they would make a movie about her younger years, before she became Coco Chanel (hence the title of the movie Coco Avant Chanel.) So, back to subject, if anyone did do a movie about me, I would probably be played by Blake Lively or Piper Perabo and my dad would definitely have to be John Goodman. He is the cutest, most adorable movie dad in the world. Anyway, my dad's shirt is too big on me but he doesn't mind me wearing it and it makes me feel happier and a little safe, somehow.... -Rx.

Location: Santa Marta, Colombia
Weather: SUPER sunny
Mood: mah, I don't feel too good... :(

You know what I'm really, REALLY alergic to? Air conditioning! I mean it's great, right, 'cos I don't melt to death, but it gets all my alergies going so I can't breath properly and I feel icky and horrible... So in order not to freeze to death and catch pneumonia, I'm wearing my white linen pants and a full v-neck tee. I know I've contantly complained about the heat but in the office it's really cold so trousers are alright. BEsides, linen is extreemly fresh and good for the heat (and for keeping away horrible mosquitos away from my legs - I'm starting to look like a corn knob.) Anyway, linen was used by ancient Egyptian to keep cool and protected from the sun, and trust me was it hot in Egypt, so if they could survive, so can I. Although they didn't quite survive did they, in the end? But they were around for long enough, so I'll be fine. Anyway, I'm by the sea so I thought I would give my outfit a bit of a sailor turn by wearing my stiped tee from Old Navy and my blue sandals. Finally, my local handbag to add a bit of culture and couture. And it's just right. Now, I better get back to studying c'os I want to get everything done before the weekend. Turuloo -Rx.

Location: Santa Marta, Colombia
Weather: reaaally sunny until 2 hours ago
Mood: Annoyed

You cannot even begin to imagine how hot it was today. 42°C is WAAAY over the top of my heat limit. I swear I thought I might melt. And still the cable people have done nothing so I spent most of my day lying still in case I did begin to melt, I did it all in one place so I could put myself backtogether and not risk losing any bits and pieces along the way, and after lunch I hit the pool for about an hour. I went back upstairs just in time because on our way to the office with dad the most tremendous thunder storm starting coming douwn over us and I felt a bit like in  the movie TOrnado! (Ok, maybe not in the movie considering I haven't actually seen it, but the Universal Studios ride is close enough - actually, it's even more upcloase and personal because you can actually live it where as the movie you can't and it's with that woman from As Good as it Gets which I can't stand . what's her face... Helen Hunt) Anyway, I'm derailing a bit, point is it was way to hot for clothes but we live in a society where clothes indeed are a social requierment to i popped on a nice hot pink cami-dress I bought in Zara and to go out Forever 21 sandals and leggings (which I then took off in the car again because it's way too hot for leggings, even cropped ones) and it was sooo much better. I never thought I'd say this, but I want to go back to the cold weather where you can dress up warmer if you're cold. Here I can't dress down any further! Rito go home...-Rx.

Location: Santa Marta, Colombia
Weather: Supper sunny at day, very clear night
Mood: Chillaxed

God do I love my life... It all passed as a blissful blur, and right now I feel greatful that it did. My dad had an important meating early this morning and the cable guy was coming over to put in the new phone line so he left me at home to supervise. Therefore I didn't do much apart from take a shower and put on a bikini and the most adorable yellow sundress I bought in Orlando (which still had the price tag: $6.50 - HA!) and i stayed lying all morning in my parent's bed watching crap TV and munching breadrolls. Then in the afternoon I headed down to the pool where i sat and read 'till it got dark and then I went upstairs and had another shower (you cannot imagine how hot it is here in the summer) and now I'm headed off to dinner with dad. I'm wearing the most adorable striped dress with bright red sandals, which are a bit smart but hey, if I don't wear them then why did I buy them, right? Anywho, I'm off to dinner, dad's nagging that I'm taking too long! TTYL -Rx.

Location: Bogota, Colombia
Weather: Sunny
Mood: Sad… a Little
So remember how I told you I was selling my car? Well I did and that’s great ‘cos now I can buy a new one but still… It wasn’t easy just letting go, I mean I have a lot of fond memories with that car and yes it was old and ugly and I’m buying a much prettier one but still… It’s sad really…
Anyway, apart from that, I’m off to the beach in a couple of hours. Ok, not to the beach but to my beach house, to work, and no, I won’t be going to the beach or to the pool because everyone’s on holiday and I don’t like pools full of people. But still, it’s sand and warm weather right? Any excuse to wear shorts is a good one!!

Location: Bogota, Colombia

Weather: Cloudy but might actually get sunnier later
Mood: Nervous

I'm in serious need of caffeine and maybe some sugar...mmm doughnuts... Focus. Sorry, I have quite a big day ahead of me today; I'm showing my car to (so far) two potential buyers today and I'm not really that great speaking to large audiences, or small ones, or anyone I don't know. I go bright red and forget what I was going to say. I'm what you would call a serious case of a stage fright sufferer - but, I have to overcome my fears and sell the car. I mean I study merchandising for crying out loud, right? I can do this... I. CAN. DO.THIS. Oh God I can't do this! Stop it. Of course I can. I'm a big, confident woman... Great, now I sound like Chandler's "quit smoking tape..." Still, never mind. It'll be fiiine. For extra confidence I'm wearing pink (remember how I once told you pink boosted my confidence? Let's just hope it works its magic today too!) Under my oversized pink tee, however, I have chosen to wear (very unusual of me) an orange tank top. The color combination goes great and "I think it gives it a little something extra, don't you think?" (I bet no one can tell me which movie that phrase came from!) Aaaanyway, pair of jeans and my b-e-a-u-tiful (another movie quote) pair of L.K. Bennett pink suede pumps to a) look older b) look taller c) look chicer d) I love them and never wear them...Then if we go out tonight for dinner, i can get warm with my brown cardigan and matching handbag and an orange pashmina so if the tank isn't visible anymore, you can still see the color combo! Ok, here goes... wish me luck, I'm going to need it! -Rx.
